What We Do
The S.A.V.E. Program provides financial, and educational support as well as drug/gang prevention to underserved youth in the Omaha/Council Bluffs community.
FINANCIAL
The S.A.V.E. Program financially supports all approved applicants that agree to the terms and conditions of our program to participate for their requested team/program.
EDUCATIONAL
The S.A.V.E. Program uses sports as an avenue to reach underserved youth to promote the value of their education. All student-athletes are assigned to a tutor that is available when the student athlete requires assistance. The S.A.V.E. Program requires student-athletes to provide ALL progress reports and report cards, as well as to work together with the teachers/counselors at their respective schools to monitor their academic success. If the student-athlete requires assistance, we arrange a day and time for the tutor to meet with the student-athlete whether during practice or in a classroom setting to ensure that the main focus of the student-athlete is his/her education. Our requirement of all student-athletes is to maintain a "C" or higher average in all subjects. If the student-athlete falls below this average, or requires assistance in maintaining this average, he/she is required to work with the tutor provided until the goal is achieved.
**All tutors are licensed professionals either currently working or retired**
DRUG/GANG PREVENTION
The S.A.V.E. Program will provide four seminars a year that are open to student-athletes as well as their parents/guardians. These seminars will provide information, statistics, and educate the student-athletes of the consequences of drugs/gangs.
Who We Help
The S.A.V.E. Program is designed to cater to underserved youth in 3rd - 8th grade that reside in the state of Nebraska. All students-athletes must submit an application to the organization. Applicants will be notified via email when their application has been received. Applications are reviewed monthly by the Board of Directors. Applicants are notified of their status within 1 - 2 months of receiving their respective applications. If an applicant should be approved for support, he/she must follow the guidelines and conditions of the S.A.V.E. Program or the support can be revoked. Students/athletes are referred to S.A.V.E. by youth teams, programs, teachers, and established relationships we have built within the inner-city.
How Many We Support
The S.A.V.E. Program supports as many students-athletes as financially possible. Our goal for the first year is to reach 10-25 underserved youths. Each year as our financial and educational support grows, we will have the opportunity to reach out to more underserved youth.
