Meet Sophia — A Thriving Leader!
Sophia, now a freshman at Bellevue West High School, has been part of the SAVE Program since the 4th grade, and in many ways, she’s grown up with us. When she reflects on her years in SAVE, the memories come easily: making friends, laughing during activities, and building connections that have stayed with her long after elementary school.
Even today, those relationships are part of what makes SAVE special to her. When asked about her favorite part, she didn’t hesitate:
“If I’m being honest, it’s the snack and the people.”
It’s simple, genuine, and perfectly captures what SAVE is all about: community, consistency, and a place where students feel at home.
🌟 Thriving Academically at Bellevue West
Sophia is off to an incredible start in high school. As she finishes her first semester, she’s on track for a 4.0 GPA, driven by her determination to do her best every day.
She’s especially proud of her performance on exams and the practice ACT. These achievements reflect her discipline and her growing confidence as a student.
Sophia shared how SAVE’s Follow Through meetings have helped her stay organized and stay ahead:
Keeping track of assignments

It’s support like this that helps students not only succeed academically, but believe deeply in their ability to thrive.
💪 Stepping Outside Her Comfort Zone
Sophia shines in the classroom, but she’s equally impressive outside of it.
This fall, she completed her first-ever season of golf… and lettered. When she proudly showed SAVE staff the photo of her letter and pin, her excitement was contagious.
But she didn’t stop there. Sophia is:
A member of the Sign Language Club
Participating in basketball workouts and gearing up for tryouts
Already looking ahead to joining the track team this spring
Her willingness to try new things and excel at them speaks to her courage, curiosity, and dedication to becoming the best version of herself.
